Bunaken National Park,the paradise of marine park

Bunaken which is lying in north Sulawesi, is one of the most favourite tourist destination in Indonesia, mostly those who like to dive. The beauty of marine park within Bunaken National Park is undoubtly amazing. The Bunaken and Manado Tua Marine Park are one of the world’s best snorkelling and diving spots. Bunaken National Park is very representative of Indonesian tropical water ecosystems, consisting seagrass, coral reef, and land/coastal ecosystem. Some rare and endangered species also lives in this marine park such as coelacanths, dugongs, whales, turtles, and dolphins. The park has a unique bathymetry, which is an attraction to tourists diving at Bunaken Island. The absence of a continental shelf in the northern part of North Sulawesi allows the coastal area to drop directly down the continental shelf . The park consists of the islands of Bunaken, Manado Tua, Montehage, Siladen, Nain and Nain Kecil as well as part of Tanjung Pisok coastal area in the northern part. Whereas, part of Tanjung Kelapa cost covers the southern part.

How to get there

Take a flight to Manado.

Boats and chartered boats, are available at Manado Harbour to get to Bunaken Islands (30 minutes).

Best time of year to visit : May to August
